Before the story
Tbili Tyoply is more than a stage name: it is an artistic project with its own character, atmosphere and internal logic. It is therefore important to distinguish Sergey as a real person from the fictional voice heard in many of the songs. This biography explains how the Tbili persona emerged, which experiences shaped the music and why the creator eventually stepped away from the project.
Concept and stage name
Tbili is Sergey’s hip-hop project. Sergey was born in Tbilisi, which inspired the first part of the name.
The underside of reality
The story followed a character immersed in darker sides of reality, showing the consequences of crime and addiction rather than romanticizing them.
Mariupol streets
Sergey spent his youth in Mariupol. His surroundings and observations of everyday life became material for later stories.
Life beyond the alter ego
Sport played an important role in real life: judo, football and boxing created a strong contrast with the stage persona.
Turning point
In 2014, as fighting reached the Mariupol area and remaining there became increasingly dangerous, Sergey tried to earn money as quickly as possible to help his family leave the city and settle somewhere calmer. The project's popularity became a practical way to raise the needed funds, leading to a large number of collaborations, freestyles and recordings with listeners. As a result, the musical archive expanded rapidly and became much more chaotic.
Closing the project
Sergey later announced the end of the project and largely left public view, while older recordings continued to live with listeners.
